A CANNABIS farm overheated and set a Coventry house ablaze last night.
The fire in Walsgrave Road, Stoke, saw a significant amount of cannabis burned, sending a plume of smoke onto the street.
Police and firecrews acted quickly to extinguish the blaze and in doing so discovered a cannabis farm.
It is understood road closures were put in place but caused minimal disruption.
The Coventry and Solihull Force Response police tweeted this morning: “D unit officers in #coventry supported @_coventryfire last night at the scene of a house fire, caused by a substantial cannabis factory set up inside.
“Can’t help but wonder if ‘going up in smoke’ like this was what the owner had in mind when they planted their crop!”
