Burst water pipe causes Coventry school closures, flooding and traffic disruption

A BURST water main in Coundon and Radford has seen school closures and buildings left with no water.

The burst water pipe is at the junction of Barker Butts Lane and Loudon Avenue in Radford and has flooded the street and is disrupting traffic.

Hill Farm Primary school and St. Augustine’s Catholic Primary School have been closed.

The authorities, including Severn Trent, have been on the scene since around 7am.

Severn Trent said: “We’ve been made aware of a burst water pipe on the junction of Barker Butts Lane and Loudon Avenue which may be causing water supplies to be off or at low pressure for some of our customers.

“Our teams are on site and will do everything they can to get things back to normal as quickly as possible.

“We know how difficult it is to have no water, especially during busy times of the day when you’re trying to get ready for work and school and we’re really sorry for any trouble this may cause.

“We’d like to reassure our customers that we’re doing everything we can to get the water supplies back on as soon as we can.”
