Blood Bikers to deliver presents for children at Coventry hospital

Coventry Editorial 18th Dec, 2020   0

THE team from Warwickshire and Solihull Blood Bikes are appealing to the public to help raise money to buy presents for children hospitalised over the Christmas.

Blood Bikes is a registered charity that transports urgent samples of blood, Covid, human tissue and urgent medical supplies through their volunteers across the region’s network of hospitals.

Around 80 volunteers, including riders and drivers, do this free of charge to the NHS providing a weekday out of hours service and 24/7 weekend and bank holiday cover.

Traditionally the team raise funds to buy and presents for children themselves.

However this year due to the pandemic their fundraising has been restricted and only this week have been given permission to drop some presents at University Hospitals Coventry Walsgrave on Saturday December 19.

Blood Bikes is therefore asking for help in raising money to buy presents or for the public to donate toys, which need to be brand new and unused.

Anyone wishing to donate toys can email Phil Evans at [email protected] who will arrange collection.
