AN AWARD-WINNING group of singers are celebrating their 25-year anniversary.

The Belles of Three Spires, a ladies acapella show chorus, were formed in 1989 when some wives of an all-male group launched their own.

The group is now 57-strong and still taking on new members.

Among the highlights of recent years have included a visit to Ireland and performing in the bandstand at the Olympic Park during London 2012.

But they it was back home where they officially marked their 25 years with what they described as a spectacular show at Blue Coat School last week.

Joining them on stage were The Sound of Three Spires who have always been part of the Belles’ history as well as Bowled Over, a quartet made up of two Belles and two members of Silver Lining, the other barbershop choir in Coventry.

Also on stage was musical director Lucy Edmonds’ quartet Q Music and by One Step Closer, Caludon Castle’s 6th form music class.

Each group performed many popular songs including Shine, Dream a little dream, Time after time, Irish lullaby, Crazy little thing called love and Skyfall before an anniversary cake was served.

“Everyone had a fantastic time both on stage and off with a brilliant audience atmosphere,” said choir spokeswoman Emer Scott-Baird.
