THE Belgrade Theatre is set to celebrate its 60th anniversary by producing a special beer with a city brewery.
The historic theatre which opened in 1958 as part of the post-World War Two redevelopment of the city will hold a Diamond Gala next month.
Music, poetry and performance are already on the cards for the ceremonial event on September 15.
And the latest addition to the party will be the honorary ale produced by Coventry brewery Twisted Barrel Ale.
Following a public consultation and a social media poll, the birthday beer has been fittingly named ‘Break a Keg’, with ‘Ale the World’s a Stage’ coming in a close second, organisers say.
The brewery says the limited edition bottled craft beer will be a 4.5 per cent volume IPA with refreshing notes of citrus, pine and tropical fruits.
The celebration event will also offer a range of coffees and cocktails along with a delicious range of tapas.
The theatre encouraged people to look out for further details of a special ceremonial cake.
Open to the public to attend, the theatre says the Gala promises an exciting lineup of live music, DJ sets, exhibitions, archive material, poetry readings and pop up ‘theatrical surprises’, running from 8pm till late.
Organisers say proceeds from sales and donations will be reinvested back into the theatre’s work in the community.
The Belgrade Theatre Trust is a registered charity which relies on the support of donors and sponsors.
The trust provides artistic and educational work in the city.
