PUPILS from Canons Primary School in Bedworth read their favourite books to residents in a nearby retirement village to celebrate World Storytelling Day, writes Mia Whitehouse.

Staff at Richmond Villages Bede home in Bedworth invited the 12 children and provided them with drinks, snacks and a book each to take home with them.

Among the scintillating stories told by the youngsters were The Twits, The Buggiest Bug, and Marian to the Rescue.

Village manager, Debra Cosgrove, said, “We’re always grateful whenever the children from the Canons pay us a visit, and it’s great to see both residents and pupils so interested in each other.”

The primary school has a long-standing relationship with Richmond Villages Bede, with year two pupils visiting in December to present their workbooks and year six donating Christmas hampers shortly after.

One of the residents, Eileen, said: “I thoroughly enjoyed listening to The Gruffalo and I’m looking forward to the children visiting again.”
