BRITISH Transport Police are investigating the alleged serious assault of a man at Coventry railway station by a fellow passenger.

Officers investigating the assault, which occurred on Saturday August 1, have released an image of a man they would like to speak to about the incident.

The victim was travelling by train from Birmingham New Street to Coventry and while on-board had a conversation with a man about the way he was speaking to his travel companion.

Police say the victim got off the train at Coventry station and, as he was leaving the station at 9.40pm, was pushed from behind by the man he had a conversation with on the train. The victim fell forwards onto the road suffering injuries to his face, hands and legs.

The suspect then re-entered the station and boarded a train destined for Birmingham.

Officers believe the man in the CCTV images may have information which could assist their investigation.
