Nuneaton ‘Buffs’ have raised thousands for Coventry hospice

Coventry Editorial 20th Mar, 2022   0

MEMBERS of the Nuneaton ‘Buffs’ have raised over £3,000 for a children’s hospice in Coventry.

Zoe’s Place Trust is a registered charity providing respite and end life care to babies and infants from birth to five years suffering from life-limiting or life-threatening conditions.

This care is provided in a caring, safe, home from home environment, known as Zoe’s Place Baby Hospice.

Like many  organisations who rely on fundraising Zoe’s Place has suffered due to the lockdown and restrictions.

The Nuneaton Province headed by Brother Hugh Rees ROH supported by brothers, provinces, friends, and family across the country dug deep to help to this very worthwhile course.

The Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes (RAOB), known as the Buffs’ Club is one of the largest fraternal organisations in the United Kingdom, having been formed in London in 1822.

There are now lodges worldwide, with members – known as Brothers – supporting charitable organisations in their local community, as well as the families and dependents of deceased members, both financially and emotionally.

Brother Hugh Rees of the Dennis Hill Lodge No 8429 presented the cheque to representatives of Zoe’s Place Trust.

Brother Richard J Snowdon said: “By the 19th December 2021, the total amount raised was a magnificent £1,750 however, the fundraising hadn’t stopped.

“The fundraisers pushed the magnificent final total to £3,050 by the end of Brother  Hugh Rees ROH term as PGP for Nuneaton Province.

“Many thanks to all those who made this happen, fun, friendship, and fundraising the things us buffs do best.”
