No fooling you with our Yee-haw Yoghurts City of Culture story.......

Coventry Editorial 1st Apr, 2022 Updated: 1st Apr, 2022   0

WELL, as nice as it would have been for Texas dessert giant ‘Yee-haw Yoghurts’ to choose Coventry (the City of Culture) for its UK base, we have to confess the story was one big ruse for April 1 (you all knew that anyway).

Thank you for all your reads and social media reaction to the story and we’ll be back again next year to try and catch you out again.

Just in case you missed the story earlier, you can read it below.

America’s Yee-haw Yoghurts chooses Coventry – ‘the UK City of Culture’ for its new UK base

TEXAS-based dessert giant ‘Yee-haw Yoghurts’ is set to open a new food processing plant in Coventry to make it the ‘City of Culture’ in more ways than one.

And to celebrate its arrival, the firm has created an exclusive ‘Cov Collection’ of ten new yoghurt flavours to whet the appetite of Coventrians and ex-pats.

Six of those on offer – in the regular range – include ‘Cheery Cheylesmore Cherry’, ‘Cracking Canley Cranberry’, ‘Beautiful Binley Blackcurrant’, ‘Kick-ass Keresley Kiwi’, ‘Lovely Longmore Lime’ and ‘Excellent Earlsdon Elderberry’.

The other four – in their ‘made with fresh cream’ deluxe range – are ‘Sky Blueberry’, ‘Godiva Grapefruit’, ‘Cov Cathedral Caramel’ and ‘Fantastic Foleshill Fudge’.

For today only (Friday) representatives will be driving around the city in their Yee-haw Yoghurts Coventry branded vans giving citizens a sneak preview and the chance to try their new mouth-watering recipes.

All people have to do is track down one of the vans, flag it down and shout at the driver: ‘Yee-haw! – Give me some of that new Cov culture.’

In return, the recipient can choose three yoghurts of their choice and be entered into a prize draw for a behind-the-scenes tour of the factory when it opens.

Yee-haw Yoghurts managing director Ralf Poloi said: “When we heard Coventry was the UK City of Culture we had to come over and see for ourselves why it had been chosen.

“Myself and the other directors instantly fell in love with the city, its quaint customs, sports clubs and its illustrious history.

“We’ve been thinking about expanding our yoghurt business into the UK for a while as we know how much it is loved over here and Coventry seemed the perfect fit.

“We can’t wait for Coventrians to try our new city-themed flavours – we think they sure will love ’em!’

Further announcements about the new factory, jobs and distribution of the new Coventry Collection yoghurts will be revealed at midday today,
