ALMOST 30 firefighters battled a massive blaze on farmland off Bennetts Road North in Corley, Coventry.
It broke out around 4.13pm yesterday (Monday) and ripped across a 500m by 500m field.
A total of seven crews were sent to the scene by West Midlands Fire Service.
West Midlands Police also attended, closing roads and using a drone to monitor the extent of the fire and the National Police Air Service helicopter was also deployed.
With those pictures, crews were able to identify the seats of fire developing across the affected area and three 4×4 brigade vehicles were mobilised to deal with the hotspots, supported by fire engines.
A nearby farmer also assisted the firefighting efforts, using a tractor to create ‘fire breaks’ and stop the incident from spreading further.
Conditions slowed efforts down but the crews were able to bring the blaze under control and firefighters left the scene around 11.05pm.
