Travel Smarter in 2025: Key Dates for Unbeatable Deals

Coventry Editorial 24th Jan, 2025 Updated: 24th Jan, 2025   0

We all wish we could travel more often, but it’s the costs that often leave travel plans in the dust.

However, the good news is that there’s a way around this.

By booking your flights, accommodation, and activities at specific times of the year, you can end up saving more money than you might imagine.

When to Book Your Getaways in 2025

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you plan your holidays in the coming year.

Some Months Are Better Than Others

While you may want to travel at specific times of the year, some months will cost you less than others.

For example, you will usually be able to book popular cruising deals at a better price between January and March. Other months that tend to offer significant savings are September and October. This is because most people tend to travel during peak season, which is July to August and December.

Naturally, you want to take your destination into account as peak season will differ depending on when the summer months are.

When You Fly Matters

The days you choose to fly to your destination can also impact the final cost of your holiday.

If possible, fly out on a Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday if you want to spend less on domestic flights. You can generally also save some extra money by booking a late morning or early afternoon flight, which tends to be less busy.

For international flights, Wednesdays and Saturdays also tend to be cheaper.

Planning Your Booking

Yes, flying on specific days will be easier on your budget, but when you book flights will also make a difference.

If you’re planning to hop on a domestic flight to travel to another city, book your flights at least 28 days in advance.

For international flights to reach your favorite tropical paradise, booking at least 60 days in advance is best.

As a rule of thumb, though, the sooner you can book flights, the better.

It’s also highly recommended that you try to book your flights on a Tuesday, particularly in the afternoon, as this is when airlines may lower prices to compete with other offers.

For your accommodation, aim to book towards the end of the week when hotels lower prices to fill rooms. Checking in on a Sunday may also grab you some lower rates as this is when most people are checking out.

Don’t Forget to Shop Around

Before you settle on flights, accommodation, or that dream all-inclusive holiday, take the time to compare prices and deals—it’s almost always well worth the effort.

Holiday costs will fluctuate between providers based on what the market and competitors are doing, so shopping around can help you secure better deals throughout the year. It does also help to be flexible when planning your getaways if you want to save money.

A few adjustments to your plans could result in you being able to stay longer or see more, making your holiday even more worthwhile.
