QUICKLY becoming a local celebrity, Basall Common’s own star of The Voice is set to fight for his place in the next stage of the competition.

Karl Loxley is preparing for his Battle on the hit BBC One show, which will air this weekend.

The episode will see him pitted against a fellow team mate – each hoping Will.I.Am will take them through to the live rounds of the competition.

However, if he doesn’t impress Will.I.Am with his performance, hope is not lost as any of the other judges can ‘steal’ him for their own team.

Speaking about this weekend’s episode, Karl said: “It’s very nervewracking, as you’re never too sure what you’ll be up against.

“We’ve all become close as a team, so it will be really hard to be battling against each other.

“I had reservations in my initial audition when Will.I.Am said he thought that because I can sing classically that I can automatically sing pop well.

“I have been really touched by the outpouring of support I’ve received, from everyone who comes to support me when I busk in Stratford, to emails and tweets from people I’ve never met.

“They encourage me to stay doing what I love, and I hope that I can continue doing that in this competition for as long as possible.”

Karl will take to the stage when The Voice airs on Saturday, February 28 at 7.15pm.
