New York – find out why it truly is the city that never sleeps!

If you didn’t make a resolution this year, then make it your personal mission to visit the city that never sleeps! New York is made up of five boroughs, the liveliest of which is Manhattan. You’ll find no shortage of action here; from the bright lights of Broadway and Times Square, to some of the most renowned museums and landmarks on the planet.

New York is an extremely welcoming place for families, and contrary to their hard-bitten image, the locals are very friendly.
So, we’ve come up with things that you can do on your vacation in New York.

Sail to Liberty Island in New York Harbour

If you’ve only time to do a handful of things on your weekend New York breaks, you simply must take a boat to the iconic landmark that is the Statue of Liberty. It’s the definitive symbol of New York, and you can now see it up close after a whole decade of it being off limits.

It really is an empire state of mind

Whether you’ve got some fantastic all inclusive deals or you’re only paying a flying visit, we truly recommend you go and see the Empire State Building. It’s an icon, and the tallest building in New York. You’re best off arriving at dusk so you can watch the lights being turned on – it’s a truly magical experience.

Take a stroll across Brooklyn Bridge

This is the most fun you can have hundreds of feet off the ground. It’s definitely the most famous of Manhattan’s five bridges and you’ll love every minute of this trip. First built in 1883, you can take a walk from Manhattan to Brooklyn – it’s a great excursion for the whole family.

Hit the shops

The Big Apple promises some of the best and most diverse shopping in the world. Couture shops line Madison Avenue while huge glitzy department stores like Saks Fifth Avenue and Bloomingdales sit conveniently on Fifth Avenue in Midtown. New York is a place where some of the most innovative designers show off their work, and so you’ll be able to get your hands on some truly unique pieces for a snip of the price. Have a rummage through the quaint boutiques of Lower East Side, or take a look the trendier homeware stores of SoHo. And if you’re a music fan you should head over to Greenwich Village where you’ll find a good selection of record shops and boutique food stores.

Central Park

If your body and purse strings and still feeling the effects of Christmas, you’ll be happy to know that a walk through Central park is free. Try out some roller-skating, take the kids for a picnic, or just relax in an iconic outdoor space. And it’s also a place where you stand a good chance of rubbing shoulders with A-listers - the likes of Madonna are known to jog through here on a regular basis, on runs such as the Loop. This is a 6 mile jog that begins at the East River and passes Gracie Mansion – why not give it a go yourself?
