Hi: 10° Lo:1° 7 day

On the 26th of December 2012 multi-award winning actor Tom Cruise bursts onto the silver screen and this time, comes in the form of fictional homicide investigator Jack Reacher. The movie surrounds a murder case in which five victims are shot dead and the accused claim their innocence and exclaims the police ‘Get Jack Reacher’. When Reacher turns up to the scene he is determined to prove his innocence and get the perp behind bars, but the task proves a little tricky as Reacher gets more than her bargained for.
The movie is based on several novels by famous thriller author Jim Grant or as he is better known Lee Child. Grant was born in Coventry in 1954 but was moved to Birmingham at a young age as his parents hoped he would receive a better education. His school was King Edwards the institution that also spawned fellow author of the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit, both of which can now boast their own movie trilogies, J. R. R. Tolkien.
Grant, or Child as he is better known in the literary world, is a massively prolific writer and has had a very successful career. The Killing Floor was the first of his top selling novels and was published in 1997. This book saw the first appearance of Jack Reacher and his crime solving talents. The book won numerous awards the Barry Award and Macavity Award being two examples.
Cruise, alongside a star studded cast including Rosamund Pike, Robert Duvall and Richard Jenkins brings the Lee Childs written reality to life for the first time and opens the world’s eye to the life of hard faced cop Jack Reacher.
You can catch Jack Reacher in your local Vue Cinema in Birmingham from Boxing Day this year and if you are a movie goer who is into action packed thrill rides, you will not be disappointed.
