THE CITY of Coventry served up an ace of a day for Britain's future King earlier.

Beautiful sunshine greeted Prince William in War Memorial Park as he took time out of his busy schedule for a spot of sport with some lucky youngsters this morning (Wednesday).

The Duke of Cambridge's trip included a meet and greet with school kids but also focused on the 100-year anniversary of World War One.

He launched a new programme aiming to preserve green spaces dedicated to those who lost their lives in battle with Memorial Park the first to be given the honour of being part of the Centenary Fields programme.

The Duke laid a wreath at the site before unveiling a special plaque.

Dozens of locals turned out to catch a glimpse of the much-loved Prince.
