New Blaze signing targets Elite League success

AMERICAN forward Ryan Ginand targeting the Elite League title next season.

Blaze have chased the signature of the 27-year-old in recent years but have eventually lured him to the Skydome for the 2013/14 campaign last week.

Ginand split last season with Orlando Solar Bears and Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL as well as being called up for seven games in the American Hockey League by Houston Aeros.

And Ginand is looking forward to returning to action in England after being persuaded to join by former Blaze coach Paul Thompson.

"I am very excited to get over there and jump into the new culture," said Ginand.

"I have spoken to Thommo (Thompson) for a couple of years now and to finally commit to the Blaze is a great feeling.

"The move was kind of always in the back of my head after talking and playing with a former Blaze player, Brian Lee, who only had good things to say about the staff, team and community.

"My goal for next season is to win the league and championship. With the players coming in next season I think anything less would be a disappointment."
