THE FIRST female singer from the city to release a single is one of four more names being added to Coventry's Musical Wall of Fame.
Beverley Jones, who died last year, was signed to the iconic record label HMV in the early 1960s and went onto release three singles.
Also set to be added to the wall in Ball Hill on March 22 is Selector drummer Aitch Bembridge whose name will appear alongside fellow band member Pauline Black.
He is regarded as one of the finest ska drummer and was also been part of The Specials set-up as well as drumming for the legendary Desmond Dekker.
The Sorrows, one of the first Coventry bands to make their mark in the 1960s, will also be honoured as will and folk singer Dave Swarbrick.
They all join the ever-growing list of high profile people, including Hazel O’Connor, Neville Staple and Horace Panter, who have made a huge contribution to the music industry and Coventry.
The public are urged to keep nominating at 2tonecentral.co.uk.
- The 2-Tone Village have once again teamed up with Paul Williams & Specialized for a fund-raising concert for Teenage Cancer Trust and for the Coventry Music Museum.
The Beat are making a very rare appearance in the city for the concert March 16 at Hush Gosford, now part of Coventry University Students' Union.
Also on the bill are ska band The Talks, local band This Modern Youth, and a variety of popular DJ's. Tickets are available from the 2-Tone Village, Ball Hill, European Mini Market, Gosford St, Skopes Menswear in West Orchards, Vinyl Destination in Coventry Market and online at 2tonecentral.co.uk.
