THE Saints Dramtic Society go back to the 1920s for their 150th production.

Make Way for Lucía, a comedy by John Van Druten, is based on the Mapp & Lucía novels by E F Benson and will be directed by society president Marion Kendrick.

It opens for a five-night run at Allesley Village Hall on Tuesday, February 12.

There may be trouble ahead in the village of Tilling where two formidable ladies, Elizabeth Mapp and newcomer Lucía, vie to become doyenne of the social scene.

The battle lines are drawn as they engage in an art exhibition, a garden fête and musical evenings. And 1920s costume is the order of the day for the 11 members starring in this milestone production.

The cast includes Lucinda Toomey as Lucia and David Healey as Georgie.

Marion said: "I have chosen a light and frivolous play for our 150th production, which will appeal to our loyal audience and afford them a ray of sunshine during this depressing winter."

Performances are at 7.30pm nightly with tickets priced £6, and £5 concessions, are on sale by calling 02476 402309.
