A WOWAN driver has escaped with remarkably minor injuries despite the car she was driving colliding with a telegraph pole and ending up on its side.

Emergency service crews were called to the incident which happened on Spon End at around 9pm on Monday.

An ambulance, a paramedic officer and a BAISCS emergency doctor were sent to the scene to treat the women in her 30's.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, ambulance staff found a car which had come to rest, driver’s side down.

“The woman inside, who was estimated to be in her 30’s, was trapped for around half an hour in very cold temperatures due to the damage to the vehicle.

“Working with firefighters, the roof was removed from the car. The woman was immobilised and then extracted onto a spinal board.

“After an assessment by the doctor at the scene, the woman was taken to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire but thankfully, her condition did not appear serious.”
