Hundreds turn out for Sent to Coventry auditions

SENT to Coventry auditions saw a diverse crowd typical of Coventry, according to the actress charged with casting the reality show.

Hundreds headed to the city centre from 10am this morning (Friday) with the aim of being picked out for the show, which will see a 15-minute pilot filmed focusing on the city.

Among the more wacky auditions were a stripper, a man in a mankini - made famous in film Borat - and even a dog.

Actress Holly Matthews, who helped with casting at city venue S7ven, said it had been a crazy day.

"We've had all different types of characters in here," she told us.

"We've had dogs, boobs, renditions of 5ive and S Club 7, we've had a man who feeds squirrels in his spare time, a guy who sang a Japanese songs to us and speaks four different languages.

"We've seen it all.

"We're trying to find out so much about people in such a short space of time which can be hard. People are coming in and we want to know that bit more about them.

"We've had some really interesting people come through the door. Some really diverse people, which is exactly what Coventry is all about.

"There's a lot to plough through now. We need to look at how we can get these people working together and who can work with who."
