ELECTRICITY networks will get an £8 million boost to deal with high demand.
Over 14 miles of 33,000 volt cable will be installed between Warwick and Coventry, while a new substation near Stoneleigh's Royal Agricultural Showground is set to be built.
Western Power Distribution, responsible for distributing electricity in the Midlands, said the changes would benefit 81,000 customers in the area.
The project is due to start this month with completion expected by the autumn of 2014.
Project Manager Patrick Booth said: “Our aim is to invest to maintain the reliability of electricity supplies for years to come.
“We have been working very closely with the Coventry and Warwickshire Highways Authority to agree on the cable route which creates the least disruption for traffic flow in the area, and we have programmed our work to take into account what else is happening in the area."
