PETER Pan of pop Cliff Richard will be taking to the stage at Warwick Castle next summer.

The 72-year-old star, who boasts worldwide record sales of 250 million, and who has scored over 120 top 40 hits, plays the venue on Saturday June 8 as part of his Midsummer Nights tour.

Knighted in 1995 – the first rock and roll superstar to be honoured with the title – Cliff has always had a loyal following.

With a career spanning six decades, he says he cannot wait to put on the show of a lifetime.

He said: “I want to put on a real first-class show for my wonderful fans who’ve supported me throughout the years, so I’ll be singing all the classic hits.”

The career of Sir Cliff - born Harry Rodger Webb - now spans a remarkable seven decades.

With his backing group The Shadows, he was originally styled as a rebellious rock and roll singer, Britain's answer to Elvis Presley. His 1958 hit single Move It is often described as Britain's first authentic rock and roll song, and John Lennon once claimed that before Cliff and the Shadows, there had been nothing worth listening to in British music.

Down the years has become more middle of the road pop, with a clean-living image reflected by his Christian faith.

Sir Cliff has become a fixture of the British entertainment world, amassing many gold and platinum discs and awards, including three Brit Awards and two Ivor Novello Awards.

Fans at Warwick can expect classics such as Living Doll, Summer Holiday, Devil Woman and We Don't Talk Anymore.
