COVENTRY CITY can look forward to a repeat of the 1987 FA Cup Final after drawing Tottenham in the third round of the famous competition.
Boss Mark Robins said he would have preferred a home time against Andre Villas Boas' men but was relishing next month's trip to White Hart Lane.
The Sky Blues booked their place in the next round on Saturday with a 2-1 win against Morecambe at the Ricoh Arena.
Robins said they had been rewarded with a really good tie.
"Yes we wanted to be at home, but we now have the chance to play against one of the top sides in Europe who are steeped in FA Cup history and we will be relishing that chance," he said.
"It will certainly be a good day out for our supporters.
"There are always surprises in the third round of the FA Cup and we have to hope that we can be one of them."
Last year's draw saw a home time with fellow Championship side Southampton, with the Sky Blues going down 2-1.
The tie with Spurs - in the first weekend on January - comes after Robins' side played their North London rivals Arsenal in the Capital One Cup.
City started brightly but were undone by a young Gunners' side and went on to lose 6-1.
"We have been to Arsenal this season and acquitted ourselves well, but we want to avoid a repeat of the scoreline," Robins added.
"The 1987 Cup final was a real classic and I remember it very well indeed. I am sure this will bring back some memories for our supporters."
Players reacted to the draw on twitter, with defender William Edjenguele telling his followers: "First season in England, after going to the Emirates stadium, hopefully I'll go to White Hart Lane... #blessed."
