AN image of a man has been released by police who is wanted in connection with an assault in the city centre last year.

David Henry Burt, 36, is accused of hitting a man over the head with a beer bottle before repeatedly punching him in the face in the Castle pub on Little Park Street.

The victim, a 27-year-old man from Walsgrave, had been drinking with friends when the attack happened in April 2011 and was left with a cut head, broken nose and severe bruising.

Despite extensive enquiries, officers are yet to trace Burt and are adding his image to an online Wanted Gallery to attract interest from anyone who can help locate him.

"Anyone who knows where he lives or socialises should call police immediately," said PC Kerenza Dunne, from Coventry Central police station.

Anyone who can help can call PC Dunne on 101 or alternatively, people who do not want to speak with police officers can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
