Campaign to save stricken cab maker LTI goes national

A CAMPAIGN to save Coventry's black cab company has gone nationwide.

Ex-workers and union campaigners hit the streets of London and Liverpool last week.

Both the cities use the iconic cabs made by Holyhead Road-based LTI.

Leaflets were handed out to cabbies and passengers at Kings Cross, St Pancras, Heathrow and Liverpool city centre to raise awareness of the threat administration has caused the firm.

Union Unite has launched a Facebook campaign page and a petition to build up public support.

National officer Roger Maddison said: "Skilled but sacked workers are joining forces with cabbies to get the campaign to save the black cab on the road. T

"he iconic black cab is part of Britain's manufacturing heritage, but they are at risk of being built abroad or even disappearing from our roads altogether."

Administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers made 156 redundancies nationwide last month.
