LEGENDARY ska band The Selecter are set to perform at the Ricoh Arena for the first time.

Their 2013 UK tour stops off in their hometown on Sunday, March 31 on what is believed to be the first time in 15 years singer Pauline Black will perform in Coventry.

The band shot to national prominence in 1979 as they led the ska revival movement by mixing punk, ska and reggae with a number of hits including On My Radio, Three Minute Hero and Missing Words.

After reforming in 1991, the group split in 2006 before reforming again in 2010 and embarking on successful Made in Britain and Live in Britain tours this year.

Liz Cooper, marketing director at the Ricoh, said: “The Selecter has a loyal fan base as well as new fans who are hearing their music for the first time since they weren’t born when they started out!

“I am sure the set will be a combination of tracks older fans remember as well as music from their latest album and a few ska classics.

“It will be a very special night to hear their well-remembered hits echoing around the Ricoh Arena.”

Talisman, who have reformed with their original line-up after being one of the UK’s top roots reggae bands in the 1970s and 1980s, will be supporting them at the 750-capacity gig.

Tickets are priced at £15 plus booking fee and are available from www.theticketfactory.com or by ringing 0844 338 0338.
