SKY Blues players John Fleck and Chris Hussey swapped the training pitch for the classroom when they visited young fans at Leigh Church of England School in Tile Hill.
The pair took time out of their busy trainign schedule to meet pupils and answer questions.
Children from every year of the Plantshill Crescent school grilled the players on everything from what team they supported growing up to when they first played in front of the television cameras.
The school’s football teams then showed off their skills to their visitors who offered the odd pointer and also took part in the activity.
"It’s really important that the players come out and take part in visits such as this as they are big role models for these kids," said Sam Cledwyn, a year four teacher at the school.
"For the players to come in and say positive things about working hard and doing your best, it really has a big impact on them.
"They loved every minute of it and they were just in awe of them.”
Midfielder Fleck also enjoyed the visit – but he received a mixed response to his admission that his favourite team growing up was Manchester United.
He added: "They are still young so they just say whatever comes into their heads!”
"Hopefully we will see plenty of them at a Coventry game soon and when they do come we can put on a good show for them and get a good result."
The visit was part of the club’s Tickets for Schools initiative, designed to encourage more local youngsters to attend Sky Blues matches.
