A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl has died after the car she was travelling in veered off the road and hit the side of a building in Hillfields.
The youngster was one of four family members in a Honda Civic which hit a building at the junction of King William Street and Canterbury Street just before 2.30am on Monday.
She was taken to hospital with internal injuries but pronounced dead at around 5am.
The girl's mother suffered a broken arm whilst a teenage lad and a man understood to be the victim's father and brother received hospital treatment for minor injuries.
The junction was cordoned off through the morning as crash investigators examined the scene; the roads have now been re-opened but the damaged building remains sealed off pending a structural assessment.
West Midlands Police's Collision Investigation Team is asking for any witnesses, or anyone who saw the red Honda Civic travelling in King William Street before the impact to contact them on the 101 number.
