SKILLED workers are being offered the chance to start a new life in Australia.

The country is on the look out for people to fill posts in dozens of industries including health, IT and engineering.

Over 25,000 people left the UK for Australia last year - the third highest migration rate behind India and China.

And Aussie firm Thames Migration is hosting an event on Saturday, October 6 at the Hilton Hotel in the Walsgrave Triangle to make the trip to the other side of the world.

Migration experts will be on hand for advice on logistics of the move and government officials will discuss the way of life Down Under.

Bosses said the majority of job opportunities would be in mining, management, registered nurses and trades such as boilermakers, panel beaters, motor mechanics, engineering, construction, health and IT.

Migration agent Hannibal Khoury said: "With uncertain times in the UK and world economies, Australia remains a rare beacon of employment opportunity and economic growth.

"Brits remain attracted by this growing economy, good job prospects and a decent salary - not to mention guaranteed sunshine and beautiful beaches.

"It’s no wonder that for a second year in a row, Melbourne has been voted the world’s most liveable city."

Tickets are £10 or £15 per couple. Visit thamesmigration.com for more information.
