TERRITORIAL Army soldier Damian Gilbert was among thousands of soldiers who were on patrol during the Olympics.
The 19-year-old private rubbed shoulders with celebrities such as David Beckham and Lennox Lewis while deployed to Eton Manor.
The army was called in to cover after security firm G4S failed to recruit enough staff.
Damian, who works in recruitment for Canley-based 243 Supply Squadron, said: "The training for this operation was arduous but had to be done and prepared us well to deliver our role successfully.
"A highlight was watching the technical rehearsal for the opening ceremony which was breathtaking. It has been a privilege to play a part in such a historic event."
