Four days of heaving rain set to batter the Midlands.

FLASH flood warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency with heavy rain forecast across the Midlands.

The rain was set to move in yesterday (Wednesday) and batter the region for most of today.

Further rain is expected on Friday and over the weekend, a spokesman told us.

"This may lead to localised surface water flooding and the need to issue flood alerts and possibly warnings on faster responding rivers in some locations across the Midlands," he added.

"Our teams will be out and about on the ground making sure blockages are removed from rivers so they can run freely and are monitoring the impact of the rain on the rivers."
