SELF-HELP books dealing with divorce and stress management are to be given out to children.
A scheme - called Sorted - will see the books available from three city libraries.
They deal with situations and problems such as parents separating, death, stress, anger management and self-esteem.
The city council has started the service after claiming a similar scheme for adults proved popular. It saw doctors prescribe self-help books to adults experiencing mental health problems.
Experts may do the same with children under the Sorted programme.
Coun Jim O'Boyle, cabinet member for children and young people, said: "The Books on Prescription scheme for adults has proved to be very popular in recent years so I am pleased to see a similar scheme for our young people in Coventry.
"The books will help to provide additional resources for young people who may need the extra support."
They are available to borrow from Central, Allesley and Foleshill libraries.
