Pair admit armed post office raid

A STOKE Aldermoor man has admitted his part in an armed raid on a village post office.

Anthony Delaney was one of two men who robbed sub-postmaster Alan Bailey of £4,000 during a raid in Baddesley Ensor, North Warwickshire on December 20.

The 37-year-old of The Lindfield pleaded guilty to robbery, having an imitation firearm and possessing an offensive weapon.

In the dock with him at Warwick Crown Court was Ian Parkhouse, 31, of Vicarage Road, Nuneaton.

They both, however, denied attempting to rob a woman of her Peugeot car to make their get-away, but admitted kidnapping a male driver and robbing him of his Skoda Felicia car, which crashed in Waste Lane, Atherstone, shortly afterward the robbery.

Delaney also denied carrying out a robbery at the Spar Store in Browns Lane, Dordon, two days earlier on December 18 and an attempted robbery of a quantity of cash from a post office in Hampton-in-Arden near Solihull on December 19, and will stand trial on both charges.

Parkhouse pleaded guilty to both robberies and further charges of possessing the imitation firearm, a GAMO-B23 ball bearing-firing gun, with intent to commit both of those robberies and possessing the axe in the two shops.

Both men were remanded in custody.
