A SCHOOLBOY is being questioned on suspicion of driving dangerously in a car stolen during a burglary.

The 15-year-old was arrested in Abbey Road, Whitley just after midnight on Monday morning after a high-speed pursuit.

The car had been reported stolen from an address in Rayleigh Road in the Stoke area of the city on Saturday night.

It was snapped by Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras Coventry and then in Warwickshire.

Police traced it to London Road and after a brief pursuit arrested a boy who is from Willenhall as he tried to run from the scene.

He is being questioned by detectives on suspicion of burglary and dangerous driving.

Detective Constable Ian Brown said: "It was a brief pursuit as you would expect with a highly-trained police driver following an inexperienced motorist it lasted just a few seconds over a distance of no more than a quarter of a mile.

"Officers did well to end the pursuit quickly as the Civic was travelling at up to 70 miles per hour in a 30 zone and at one stage tried to pull a handbrake turn."
