DETECTIVES investigating the death of a Nigerian man whose body was found in the front garden of an empty house have charged a man with murder.

The 31-year-old will appear in at the city's magistrates court on Tuesday charged with the murder of Adebayo Adeniran.

A 30-year-old woman, who was also arrested in connection with the death, has been bailed while police enquiries are ongoing.

The body of Mr Adeniran, 31, was found at the property in North Avenue, Stoke at around 9.30am last Thursday.

A post-mortem revealed Mr Adeniran, who was known locally as Patrick, died as a result of multiple stab wounds.

Detective Chief Inspector Matt Markham said: "Enquiries are ongoing and we are continuing to appeal from anyone who knows anything about what happened and I am particularly keen to establish Mr Adeniran's movements on Wednesday evening."

Anyone with information should call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
