THE Chapel of Unity at Coventry Cathedral celebrates its own 50th anniversary on Sunday.

A service will take place inside the chapel at 2pm.

The tent-shaped building is linked with a glass walk-way to the main cathedral and is run by a Joint Council representing all the mainline Christian denominations in the city.

The shape the building was created to reflect unity and that all are welcome. Its floor slightly dips towards the middle where there is a dove, a symbol of the Holy Spirit.

The celebratory service will be attended by representatives of the Free Church, Roman Catholic Church, German Lutheran Church, Baptist Church, Churches Together in England, United Reformed Church, the Asian Christian Community and members of the Corrymeela Community.

The Reverend Canon Dr David Stone said: "All are welcome to join us at this very special service as we continue to celebrate the Golden Jubilee of the Cathedral and its ministry.

"The very shape of the building was created to reflect unity and that all are welcome."
