A BALLOT is being held to choose who can attend Coventry Cathedral 50th anniversary service.

Over 1,800 people will be packed into the cathedral to highlight the site's golden jubilee and 100 tickets are being put aside for the general public.

If over 100 applicants are received, bosses will pick names randomly until all seats are taken.

Princess Anne and the Archbishop of Canterbury, Rowan Williams are attending the celebration on Friday, May 25.

Canon David Stone said: "The people of Coventry have always been very generous in their support of the Cathedral and we wanted to be able to offer a chance for a wide range of people to attend.

"With the Princess Royal attending and the Archbishop of Canterbury preaching, we anticipate that it will be a popular event."

To apply, send details of up to two names and addresses to Tammy James, Coventry Cathedral, 1 Hill Top, Coventry, CV1 5AB or email tammy.james@coventrycathedral.org.uk before Tuesday, May 8.
