THE Earlsdon Festival May Day event takes place on Monday.

It is the main event of the 19th annual week-long festival to celebrate the area and its people.

Earlsdon Street will provide the centre for all activities with around 50 stalls.

After the opening ceremony at 11am there will be a host of other events including The Criterion Theatre holding its Festival of Choirs from midday and there is a full programme in the playground including karate, basketball, ice hockey, tennis and crazy races.

Both the churches - Earlsdon Methodist and St Barbara's - are concentrating upon crafts with the Methodist Hall also having an artists exhibition and sale.

Gilbert Richards Centre, Age UK Workshops in Broadway will be open with workshops and demonstrations throughout the day.

Festival co-ordinator Diana Slocombe said: "All we need now is some sunshine and we'll have all the ingredients for a great day and a wonderful festival to share with our friends."

Parking is limited and the nearest spot is the Memorial Park and Ride.
