AN EXPENSIVE Olympic project based in the city has taken a step nearer to completion.
Godiva Awakes, a project costing over £2million - partly-funded by the city council - will see a giant Lady Godiva cycled from Coventry to London on a giant horse.
The latest development saw the horse's head and tail added to the structure, which will begin its journey to the capital on July 29.
The scheme has come under fire but bosses insist the structure will inspire people and showcase manufacturing in the region.
Creative firm Imagineer Productions is behind the idea, with other groups involved including NP Aerospace, Coventry University and Rugby-based Shaw Sheet Metal.
The 21-metre long cyclopedia has taken months of design and building work, with 100 volunteers needed to ride it.
Roger Medwell, chairman of NP Aerospace said: ""It is intentionally an eccentric piece of engineering which will appeal to children. It builds on the magnificent engineering heritage and history of the area."
