BROADGATE re-opened on St George's Day with a typically English pastime - Morris dancing.

Punch and Judy also made an appearance in the new-look square on Monday.

A table football competition and penalty shootout also took place to mark the Olympic qualifying match in the city, which took place hours after the event.

The pedestrianised area made up part of a £7million plan to breath new life into the city centre.

It is now free from traffic while granite blocks have been used to reflect light.
