MUSICIANS are being offered the chance to star at this year's Godiva Festival.

Godiva Unsigned will see bands and performers battle it out for a slot at the summer festival.w

Venues across the city will host a series of nights, with two winners from each facing-off in semi-finals at the Kasbah.

Six finalists will then play the rhythm tent on Godiva's opening night before an overall winner plays the Main Stage a day later.

Last year's winners Shock Parade appeared on the same stage as headliners Athlete.

This year's line-up has not yet been announced.

Lee House, event co-ordinator at organisers the city council, said: "The event is gaining popularity year upon year and the list of internationally established artists appearing is also growing.

"The Godiva Festival is for local people and as always, we really want to encourage their involvement.

"Coventry has long been the home of great musical talent and we have an excellent track record of producing successful artists."

Visit godivafestival.co.uk for further entry details, including times and dates of all the heats.

To enter Godiva Unsigned, artists and bands must meet the following criteria:

- All artists must be unsigned

- No cover songs or backing tracks will be permitted

- All artists must live within a CV postcode

- Artists will have 20 minutes play time for their set
