Rivals team up to double their Sport Relief target

A CHARITY walk that saw football fans put their rivalries aside in aid of Sport Relief has doubled the fund-raising target.

Five Coventry City season ticket holders were joined by fellow supporters and Leicester City fans for a 26-mile walk walk from the King Power Stadium to the Ricoh Arena on Saturday, March 25.

Organiser Ashley Dunn told the Observer he and his four friends, Ben McLaughlin, Aron Fox, Jim O'Brien and Robbie Moreton, were hoping to raise £1,000 for Sport Relief, but after receiving a huge amount of support Ashley said that figure has more then doubled.

“We have raised over £1,600 and we are estimating we will get over £2,500 after we have added all the sponsorship form monies,” he told us.

“This is amazing considering we originally aimed for £1,000.

“I want to thank everyone that has helped and supported us with our charity walk.

“It was a great success and we completed the walk in 11 hours including stops and pub visits for collections/pints!”
