A HUGE deparment store will be built at Gallagher Business Park after the government gave it the green light.
Home store chain Leekes had already been given planning permission to build on the former Makro site by Nuneaton and Bedworth Council.
And it is now set to open in August after communities minister Eric Pickles rubber stamped the plans.
The £6million store will be built on the derelict site left after Makro's closure in 2010. Its existing store in Leicester Road, Bedworth will close with staff being given the opportunity to relocation.
Emma Leeke, managing director of the family-run firm, said: “This store will signal a new chapter in our 120-year history.
"It will be the largest department store in a 50 mile radius and we have exciting plans for it in terms of appearance, layout and product offering."
