BLAZE forward Owen Fussey admits the back-to-back defeats to Sheffield Steelers in the Elite League were difficult to take.
Paul Thompson's side have now failed to beat Steelers in 15 meetings but pushed Ryan Finnerty’s title-chasing side close on both occasions at the weekend.
First a third-period breakdown saw them lose 3-2 in Sheffield on Saturday night before allowing a 3-1 lead slip in the final period as they went down 5-3 at the Skydome 24 hours later.
Fussey said: "The team played well over the two games but it came down to us making a few mistakes which they capitalised on.
"They are a team who never quits and, if you look at their record, have come back and made a game of things quite a few times.
"It was not an easy pill to swallow but it is a game of mistakes and whoever makes the least mistakes usually win.
"We need to get back to the drawing table and try to limit our mistakes. We need to find a game down the stretch which works for us, keep things simple and try to finish as high as possible."
