A MAN has been charged in connection with the attempted theft of a boiler and water pipes which flooded a tower block and forced hundreds of residents from their homes.
The 32-year-old from the city is charged with criminal damage and attempted theft, and appeared at Coventry Magistrates' Court on Thursday afternoon and was remanded in custody.
He will re-appear before magistrates on February 10.
Residents of Caradoc Hall in Wood End had to move out on January 13 when a burst water pipe on the 12th floor caused water damage estimated at £20,000 and cut off the electricity supply.
Occupants of all 124 flats were evacuated with many taking refuge for several days in local hotels and B&Bs.
Another man, aged 47, previously arrested in connection with the incident has been released from police bail without charge.
