Chelsea hoping for Britain's Got Talent success

CHELSEA Clarke is confident she has what it takes to make it through to the televised stages of Britain's Got Talent.

The 15-year-old singer from Hillfields joined thousands of wannabe acts when she travelled down to London for the first round of the TV talent show.

The youngster, who has previously performed at the Belgrade Theatre, queued for three and a half hours before singing Beyonce's Broken Hearted Girl for show producers.

And she told us she was confident she would get a call back to the next stage which would see her perform in front of judges Simon Cowell, David Walliams, Alesha Dixon and Amanda Holden as well as millions of television viewers.

"It was the first time I have entered when I down to London last Sunday and I think it went well," Chelsea said.

"There was a really long queue. I must have been waiting for about three-and-a-half hours but it was well worth the wait.

"There were two judges listening and one cameraman. I did get quite nervous but I always tend to get stage fright before a big performance.

"The judges seemed to like me. They said I did really well and they also said they hope to see me very soon so fingers crossed I get the call. I just have to wait now but I'm confident I have done enough to get through."

Chelsea, who describes her singing style as R&B, is a pupil at Chace Avenue Extended Learning Centre in Willenhall.

The teenager hailed the influence of her mother, who was also a singer, and thanked the people at Yardley Street Young People's Centre for supporting her talent.

"I attend the centre everyday. They allow us to use the recording studio and the staff are really helpful. I don't think I would have auditioned without their support."

The Observer reported earlier in January how cheer-leading team Coventry Dynamite were also in the running for a place on the TV show.
