ANDY Thorn has expressed his delight after the Sky Blues confirmed the signing of Manchester City striker Alex Nimely on loan until the end of the season.

The 20-year-old signed a four year contract with his parent club in 2010 and has become Thorn's second loan signing of the season.

His loan spell at Coventry, after a short stint with Middlesbrough earlier in the season, is seen as the next phase of the promising youngster’s development.

"This a great signing for us," said Thorn. "He is a hot young prospect and we have been looking at him for some time.

"He will be a good option for us up front and we look forward to having him with us for the next few months.

"Manchester City think extremely highly of Alex and we are delighted that they see the benefit he will get from being here until the end of the season.

"He will experience first team football which will help his development while at the same time he will boost our squad."

Nimely was born in Liberia but has represented England at under-20 level on three occasions, scoring their only goal in the 2009 Under-20 World Cup.

He made his first team debut at Manchester City as a substitute during the 6-1 defeat over Burnley back in 2010 and has also represented the current Premier League leaders in Europe.

The signing looks to signal the end of Lukas Jutkiewicz's career with the Sky Blues as reports suggest he has opened up talks with promotion-chasing Middlesbrough.

Both clubs look set to have agreed a fee believed to be in the region of £1.5 million for the striker, who has hit nine goals in 26 appearance this season.
