SKY Blues chief executive Tim Fisher has confirmed talks will take place with Gary Hoffman and his consortium to discuss the future of the club.

Current owners Sisu have decided to sit down with the lifelong City supporter and his associates ending months of speculation that an offer to buy the club was in the pipeline.

Fisher confirmed to the Observer last month that the owners were still searching for co-investment but it is not understood at this stage if a formal offer has been made to the club.

"We have had a proposal letter from Gary Hoffman and his associates looking to discuss the future of the football club," said Fisher in a statement released by the club.

"We have agreed to meet in the near future to talk through both their intentions and plans and to share our own plans for the future of Coventry City.

"We will devote appropriate time and effort to these discussions - but it will not distract us from our ongoing efforts to improve things on and off the field."

Hoffman and his investors made an offer to buy the club back in August but talks between the two parties immediately broke down because of the nature of the offer and the people involved.

It emerged that West Ham manager Sam Allardyce and chairman of the League Manager's Association (LMA) Howard Wilkinson had links with the two companies who were part of the proposed takeover.

Rumours had been circulating after Christmas that another bid from Hoffman was imminent and TalkSport presenter Richard Keys revealed the same group of investors are still interested in the Sky Blues.

Hoffman has remained tight-lipped throughout the process and any details from the talks are likely to remain confidential until a conclusion is met.
