Speedway
Another star joins Brandonapolis line-up

By Steve Carpenter 26/01 Updated: 27/01 16:03

WORLD Under-21 Champion Maciej Janowski is the latest name to be added to the list of competitors for Coventry’s highly anticipated Brandonapolis event in March.

The 20-year old from Poland - nicknamed Magic - is widely regarded as one of the sport’s bright stars of the future and he is seen as a key signing for the Bees’ Elite League rivals King’s Lynn for the forthcoming season.

Janowski rode for Swindon in 2011, and has already won a host of Under-19 and Under-21 honours both in his home country and across Europe.

And he struck gold in the four-round World series last year – defeating riders such as double-winner Darcy Ward and Coventry pair Przemyslaw and Piotr Pawlicki.

He will join the likes of current World Champion Greg Hancock, triple World Champion Nicki Pedersen and Bees stars Chris Harris, Edward Kennett and Kenni Larsen at the event on March 16.

"Janowski is a protégé of Greg Hancock, who rates him very highly, and that means we’ve got the World Champion and the World Under-21 Champion competing in the meeting which I think is very positive," said Bees co-promoter Colin Pratt.

"I’m waiting for some more riders to confirm, hopefully from the current Grand Prix series, and it’s all looking good for an exciting night of racing."
