ELDERLY residents are teaming up with David Moorcroft to hold their own Olympic torch relay.
The torch will make its way 715 miles to all of the Binley-based ExtraCare Charitable Trust’s retirement schemes across the country, including Humber Court in Abbey Park in Coventry.
Residents will take part in cycling and running when the torch arrives at each stop off during its five-month journey which begins in Gloucester next month and arriving in Coventry between June 14 and 28.
ExtraCare chief executive Nick Abbey said: "I suspect it will be one heck of a trip."
Coventry Olympic legend, Moorecroft, added: "I’m delighted that the emphasis is on activities here. You should stay as active as you can because being active is great."
